Noncompliance with recommended cancer screening not only increases the hazard ratio for death from cancer, but also increases the hazard ratio for death from other causes, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

Comment: The authors concluded that nonadherence to medical tests and treatments was associated with increased mortality. While we can over treat diseases we should not ignore the fact that medicine has made tremendous advances over the last 150 years. We should take advantage of these advances to increase longevity and quality of life.
