This observational study of 653 patients with COPD exacerbation found that point-of-care c-reactive protein (CRP) testing helped decrease the use of antibiotics, without worse clinical outcomes at 2 week follow-up.

Comment: Recommended CRP cutoff levels were: < 20 mg/L antibiotics not recommended, 20 to 40 possibly helpful, over 40 likely helpful.
