This study of 299 people with COVID-19 hospitalized to the intensive care unit found that treatment with a tapering dose of intravenous dexamethasone starting at 20 mg per day decreased the dependence upon ventilators.

Comment: Dexamethasone appears to one of the few medications shown to be effective in the treatment of COVID-19. It likely is only beneficial with the infection advances to the inflammatory stage, i.e. late stage advanced disease.
