This study of 914 people with frozen shoulder were randomized to steroid joint injection plus physical therapy, or to invasive surgical therapy (manipulation under anesthesia or capsular release). Physical Therapy worked as well as the other therapies, but with fewer side-effects (there were none in the PT group). Manipuation under anesthesia was the most cost-effective therapy.
