Strength and balance training decreased falls resulting in injury in home-dwelling older women. Exercise alone nor vitamin D supplementation, however, decreased the rate of overall falls (injurious or non-injurious).

Comment: It appears that vitamin D, taken alone, does not have a significant benefit in terms of bone density. It needs to be taken with calcium as the combination of the two is what is important.
