Sharing good news with others increases daily positive affect and well-being, above and beyond the effect of the positive event. When others respond actively and enthusiastically to the good news shared with them, the benefits are enhanced and the relationship strengthened. See also: http://goo.gl/6hjJaf

Comment: A follow-up study found similar effects in relationships. When one partner shared good news with the other partner, and the other partner responded positively, the relationship well-being was improved and risk of breaking-up decreased.
