This meta-analysis found that when using high dose NSAIDS, naproxen may be the preferred agent because of a lower risk of vascular complications (myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular death). All high dose NSAIDS approximately doubled the risk of heart failure. Some consider naproxen the preferred agent when long-term high-dose NSAID therapy is used in patients at increased risk of cardiovascular disease (uptodate.com 2014).
