Coronary artery calcium volume appears to be positively associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease. Coronary artery calcium density, however, is inversely associated with CHD and CVD.

Comment: A higher coronary artery calcium volume increases risk, whereas a higher coronary artery calcium density decreases risk.
