The use of statins appears to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events, regardless of a person's baseline cardiovascular risk. COMMENT: should everyone be on a statin? Reducing risk in one area (cardiovascular) does not necessarily mean overall health is improved. Nevertheless, this is suggestive and statins overall appear to be beneficial in many people.
