This study of 4742 patients with heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction, adding dapagliflozin to standard therapy improved clinical outcomes in both diabetics and non-diabetics.

Comment: This is an important study in that it finds that a diabetic medication, dapagliflozin, is helpful in both diabetics and non-diabetics (as determined by A1c levels) with HFrEF. Note that the dapagliflozin was added to conventional therapy, not substituted. Is it possible that dapagliflozin would be even more beneficial if it was an early treatment, rather than just an add-on to standard therapy?
