Aspirin and clopidogrel combination therapy reduced risk of a second stroke during the first 3 months after the initial stroke. The reduction was greater than for either agent alone within the first 3 months. However, use of combination therapy at beyond one year after the initial stroke did not decrease the risk of a second stroke but did increase risk of bleeding.
