Patients admitted to the hospital with certain cancers were found to have less thrombotic events (DVT and or pulmonary embolism) when on aspirin. Note, that the only patients looked at in this study were NOT on anticoagulants such as heparin or warfarin.

Comment: Aspirin is typically thought to be primarily for prevention of arterial thrombosis. But in the case of DVT prophylaxis after hip or knee surgery, and additionally this study suggests it also helps for patients with a broad range of cancers.
