Medical Pearls from the Internet Medical Association

Unhealthy behaviors were responsible for an approximate 6 year decrease in life expectancy among Canadians according to the 2001 to 2008 Canadian Community Health Surveys.

Comment: Unhealthy behaviors in this study were found to decrease life expectancy by 5% to 10%. My theory for many years has been that for every 1 minute you exercise, you prolong your healthy life span by at least 2 or more minutes. That is a 100% return on investment! This study would suggest that 1 minute of exercise leads to much more than 2 minutes of healthy life extension.
