About 1/2 of Alzheimer's Disease is attributable to modifiable risk factors: diabetes, midlife hypertension, midlife obesity, smoking, depression, cognitive inactivity or low educational attainment, and physical inactivity. Reducing these risk factors by 10% to 25% could potentially decrease the cases of Alzheimer's Disease by 1 to 3 million world-wide, or up to 1/2 million in the U.S.
