This study that people with non-small cell lung cancer may benefit from aspirin therapy. 81 patients were divided into 2 groups: aspirin and no aspirin. Aspirin use appeared to improve some indicators of disease severity on PET scanning. In addition, 2 year survival was improved.

Comment: Aspirin use was associated with improved survival on univariate analysis, but not on multivariate analysis. This suggests that other factors, not aspirin, were responsible for improved survival in the aspirin group. I view this study as interesting but very preliminary. Certainly, if there is a benefit of aspirin, this study suggests that it is very small.
