Physical inactivity may be the greatest threat to human health in the 21st century. While many studies have shown a positive correlation between activity and heart health, there is some evidence that high levels of exercise may produce at best similar results to lower levels of exercise, and at worse may be associated with increased risk of atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, and malignant ventricular arrhythmias. Too much, as well as too little exercise may both be associated with suboptimal cardiac health.
