This Swedish case registry study looked at 24786 peole with colorectal cancer who were randomly matched to 74358 controls. Researchers found that aspirin reduced colorectal cancer by about 9%; that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) use decreased colorectal cancer by about 7%; and that those on both aspirin and an SSRI had about a 23% reduced risk of colorectal cancer.

Comment: This is a novel finding worth investigating further but the association isn't clear. For example SSRI medications have been shown to be associated with a lower rate of bladder cancer (https://doi.org/10.3390/cancers12051184), but another study showed no benefit of SSRIs in colorectal cancer (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6072592/).
